New loot rules for Wrath of the Lich King (submitted by thorag at 12:28am EST) Earning points: . Raids give 2 points per hour (aka 8 points for a normal 4 hour raid) . Anyone leaving early, joining late, etc gets points proportional to the time they attended . People who are bumped, but stay in standby the entire raid (or a combination of standby and in the raid) get full pts. . Officers may give entire raids bonus points for glass chewing, staying late, etc. Bidding on items: Whenever an epic is dropped, people who want the item can bid for it. Bidding will be hidden. We are currently looking at bidding mods to make this easier. You may bid or lowbid on any item you are able to use, subject to officer discretion to cover items that are abnormal. There are two types of bids. You WHISPER the word to the loot officer of the raid. Bid: this means normal bid at full cost for the item. This is the high bid and always beats Lowbid. The person with the highest DKP wins and pays the cost defined in the DKP rules. Once you Bid, you can not change your bid to Lowbid. Lowbid: this means you want to pay the low DKP cost for something. If you bid this, you will always lose to anyone who says Bid. Once you Lowbid, you cannot change your bid to the high one. Bidding will be given a set amount of time. It will be short. So be honest, if you really want the item do a normal bid. if you wait to see if anybody bids and the bid closes, the item will be destroyed. There will be no bids allowed and no excuse will be accepted once bidding is closed. Finally, if we detect bidding collusion by somebody in the guild, they may be subject to disciplinary measures as well as being banned from making lowbids. Cost of items: The DKP cost of an item depends on the DKP total of the winning bidder. For normal bids, the cost will be according to the following table: If a person has <=10 pts, the item costs 10 pts. If a person has > 10, but <= 40, it costs all their points. If a person has > 40, it costs 40 points. Basically, this is a spend all DKP system with a min cost of 10 and a max cost of 40. For bid-min/bid-offspec, the cost is always 10 points. People can go negative and continue bidding on items. If officers see any signs of collusion or otherwise unethical bidding behavior (e.g. people obviously bidding-min for on-spec items), they reserve the right to adjust costs or halt bidding. We will NOT be keeping a separate point list for tier gear; if we find we need one, we will start one. |

DKP System - Spend Enough (submitted by Sylauria at 12:38pm EDT) Definition (from wikipedia) Spend-Enough DKP is intended to achieve some of the results of spend-all, but in a less extreme manner. In Spend-enough DKP, players are given priority in order of eligibility. Players are polled in priority order, and if a player wants an item when their turn comes, that player must spend DKP in an amount 1 greater than the next-highest eligible player. This allows players to keep some DKP, but acts as though everyone of lower priority wanted the item and assumes that those players would have bid up the item to that point. One of the primary advantages to this approach is simplicity of administration, since players are merely required to announce their candidacy for an item and the raid leader can determine everything needed from there. Point Allocation 1.One point for signing up AND at entrance of instance no later then 5 minutes before raid starts. 2.Two points for being in the raid the whole time (4hrs) 3.The bonus is only awarded if you complete the raid. 4.One point per hour of raiding; two points/hr after four hours 5.Points per hour only, no fractions of an hour. If a raid lasts less than an hour no points are awarded for that raid other than a bonus (see 8). 6.If a boss is not killed and the raid is longer than two hours, double time is awarded for all the hours spent raiding: two points per hour. This is needed to plan for difficult-to-learn instances where raid members can quickly accrue very steep repair bills. Example: Thorag regularly was paying +30g a weekend in repairs in MC a few months ago. Those who take the time to learn an instance should be rewarded for the hard times and we do this through points. 7.High-end bosses earn an extra point for being killed: Nefarian and all AQ40/Naxx Bosses. 8.The bonus for being on time and completing short raids (a raid that is less than 2 hours) is only one point. Spending Points When there is a tie on the number of points people have to spend on an item a roll will be performed by those with equal points to determine who gets to spend their points on it. When it is time to bid on an item, people who want it say how many points they have along with the fact that they want it. Then, the raid leader will award the item to the person with the highest points and charge against that person's points total an amount corresponding to the second highest total in points plus one. Only point totals of those actually in the raid will be considered to determine this amount. Quest items do not cost points and are rolled on by that class. Priority for an item is given to people who already have part of the quest accomplished or have it started. In the event of more than one person being eligible, it will be awarded according to when that person became eligible for the item. Legendary or higher items are decided on a case by case basis by officers. A point cost will be attributed which will represent the significance of the item and take into account the circumstances in obtaining the Legendary item. Dedication and seniority will be determining factors. It is possible for your point total to become negative. Once the total is negative, you are not eligible for an item unless no-one else can use it; you must earn back your points so that they are positive again. Points earned are added to a global none-transferable per-character pool which can be used to spend on items that drop in any high-end (40-man) instance. When the expansion comes out we will need to review this. The Detail What follows here are some explanations of how the system is intended to work which evolved out of guild discussions on the proposal. Cost Determination The more people get items, the cheaper your item will be when you find the one you want. The less people get items, the more expensive an item will be for you; that is commensurate with the rarity of epics for your 'class'. The price of an item varies with how often people in your class get items and this in turn creates a scaling price curve that allows for an even loot distribution to people. The amount of points you have to spend is always determined in descending order like this: Say A(10), B(27), C(45), D (90) An item drops and C decides he wants it and everyone else passes. He does not spend 7 points. C will have to spend 28 points because the system determines the cost always with the assumption that everyone below the person who bid wanted the item regardless of whether they said so or not. Again: if everyone passes except one person the cost is NOT seven points. The cost is only determined by the current standings of those currently in the raid; nothing else determines the cost. The cost will only ever be seven points in this situation: A(0), B(0), C(6), D(25) If D wants the item he must spend 7 points If C wants the item he must spend 7 points and go to -1 points total if A or B want the item they must spend 7 points and goto -7 total. Why We Must Use Standings Only Ytte took the time to write a detail example of why it is necessary to only use current standings to determine the cost of an item: Four rogues with no epics, start off on a grand adventure for their set items. Initially no rogue has any points (I am assuming 10 pts per run, per weekend for arguments sake). After eight weeks of runs, Rogue A finally gets his Nightslayer's Pants and ends up spending the DKP of 70 (pts for B, C & D after seven weeks) plus 1, so that the points end up as follows: A (9) B (80) C (80) D (80) The following week, Rogue B is the lucky winner of an epic, and it is the Nightslayer's Pants that dropped again! After spending pts (and I may be wrong here on who has how many pts because I'm not sure when the pts for that weekend's run are determined), the pts will end up looking like this: A (19) B (9) C (90) D (90) Week ten goes by, and Rogue C is the lucky winner, and AGAIN the Nightslayer's Pants are the item in question, and so pts look like this: A (29) B (19) C (9) D (100) On week eleven, wouldn't you know it, a pair of Nightslayer's Pants drops! Now, if eligibility were to determine how many pts Rogue D would have to spend, Rogue D would only have to spend 10 since Rogues A, B, and C, already have the item in question, leaving the points as such: A (39) B (29) C (19) D (100) The next epic that drops is going to go to Rogue D. Eligibility on determining pt costs will skew drops in favor of those who have the most pts. Granted, poor rogue D had to wait eleven weeks in this scenario for his first epic (a hyperbole for arguments sake). But now Rogue D is ensured back to back to BACK epic drops now, whereas DKP usually allows those who have had to wait the longest since the last epic drop for their chance to win. If an epic drops on week twelve, Rogue D will get to win it and only pay DKP of 39 + 1 (40 total pts): Leaving the standings as so: A (49) B (39) C (19) D (70): On week thirteen, if another unique epic drops, and D wishes to have it, he will win because he only has to spend 50 BKP total (A's 49 + 1), leaving the points as follows: A (59) B (49) C (39) D (30) Rogue D has won three epics, back to back, simply because he only had to pay 10 pts for the pants that Rogue's A, B, and C have. Meanwhile, Rogues A through C had no chance to win the second and third epics that dropped after Rogue D's pants dropped. Miscellaneous There will be a minimum spending floor of 7 points on items to ensure items don't go for free if you have the points. Players can still spend today's point in the raid if nobody else is willing to spend points they have already earned on the item. Points must stay with the character they are earned on. An exception is allowed for cases in which the raid leader asks a player to bring their alternate to the raid. In that case the player may ask to transfer that days points to another character. It is the raid leader's responsibility to ensure this is done. You will therefore have a DKP listing for each character that has earned points. Public Raid Members Because it is necessary to raid with none-guild people-- indeed this is often the case, there is a need to balance loot expectations with those of the guild. Public people will /random 100 against the raid leader for every person eligible for an item. If the Raid leader wins the item goes into DKP. Otherwise the public person wins. A public person may only win one epic per weekend and one epic per weekday maximum. A public person may request to become part of the DKP system. After this, they will only be eligible to get loot by spending points and may no longer roll for an item. This change will be irreversible. |
